Squash

Squash offer the home gardener a broad range of colors, flavors, shapes and different culinary uses. They are versatile, easy to grow, mature quickly and love the heat of summer. There are two main types of squash – summer and winter – but each of these is further broken down to offer the gardener endless selections. Summer squash come in straightnecks, crooknecks, rounds, scallops and zucchinis – which are important enough to merit their own sub-category! Winter squash are available as butternuts, buttercups, delicatas, acorns, spaghettis and hubbards – even the strange looking cushaws!
